Quid lucidius sole? This quote appears in Vulgate, the Latin version of the Bible, in Ecclesiastic 17;30: what's brighter than the sun?
The  Sun  is so powerful that it overshadows... It is like the Truth, that regardless of whether to believe it or not, it imposes itself.

"The  Sun , a complex symbol, is an element present in many beliefs, rituals and customs since antiquity, representing the vital force and cosmic power; and therefore this symbol is present in many myths of the creation of the world.
The  Sun  symbolizes light, love, passion, vitality, knowledge, youth, fire, power, royalty, strength, perfection, birth, death, resurrection, immortality. Symbol of light, the  Sun  was considered the human guiding."

Japan is known as the Land of the Rising Sun, and its flag represents this symbolism, the white rectangle represents values considered essential by Japanese culture, which are purity and honesty. The red of the central circle represents, besides the  Sun , also feelings like sincerity and passion.
