Free as the wind

Semper liber

Always Free

Do you enjoy riding a bike? Today I'm risking my first steps on my friend Lucca's bike.

Freedom  is to act according to your own will, it is the feeling of being free and not depending on anyone.

Absolute  freedom  is impossible, we know, since we are subject to social conditioning and we are the victims of our own limitations and restrictions. But even so, we can experience intensely what is allowed to us.

One of the pillars of  freedom  is mobility, the possibility to move easily and pleasantly. And the bicycle is the vehicle that best embodies this spirit of  freedom : easy driving, provides physical exercise and contact with nature.

For the historian and cycling enthusiast Eric Hobsbawm (1917-2012), if physical mobility is an essential condition of freedom, cycling may have been Gutenberg's most important single instrument to achieve the full realization of the possibilities of being human, and the only one without obvious disadvantages. Cyclists move at the speed of human reactions and are not isolated from the light, the air, the sounds and natural smells behind glass windshields.
